Kodandera M. Cariappa is one of only two Indian Army officers to hold the five-star rank of field marshal.In the year 1947 during the war with pakistan he led the Indian forces on western front.He was born in the year 1899.He belongs to Karnataka state.He was born in kodagu.He served the coountry for about three decades.He was retired in the year 1953.After his retirement he served as the Indian high commissioner to Australia and New Zealand.
He lost his in 1965 pakistan war.When his son was captured by the pakistani’s as the prisoner of war he replied very bravely to pakistan by releasing a statement,”He is my son no longer. He is the child of this country, a soldier fighting for his motherland like a true patriot. My many thanks for your kind gesture, but I request you to release all or release none.
